Top 3 android apps of May 2015

Last month May was a huge month for Android, the main reason is Google i/o event. This event makes huge changes in the android year by year. Last year on Google i/o event google has introduced Android Lollipop and this year they have Android M for us. Besides the android M there are lot more things announced in Google i/o 2015 take a look at this post 


There are about 1 million apps in Google playstore and they are increasing everyday, app developers are flooding the app market with their creation. In that app ocean it is tough task to find best apps. So I'm going to tell you the 3 best apps which get released in May 2015. I have selected this apps as top 3 because they helped me in day-to-day activities, your top 3 may differ from this.


1. Google Photos:

On May 28 during Google i/o 2015 google photos app is launched and it is included in the android M developer preview. The google photos app is a revamped version of old photo app which comes with Google+ app. This new Photos app have materialistic design and it has editing option which old google photo app lacks.

You don't need a g+ account to use this app, all you need is google mail to sign in. This app has photo and video backup option and google had gone unlimited with that. You can backup unlimited number of photos and videos until they are lesser than 16 mega pixel photos and 1080 p videos. If you upload the photos or videos having higher resolution than mentioned your file will stored into your google drive which has 15 gigabytes of storage shared with your google mail account.

This photos app will split your search result within the app by three categories namely Persons, places, things. Google photos can identify the person faces and make them into a group. You can also share your photo to facebook, twitter from the app.

The latest version photos app got editing options, you can edit the photos stored in your phone or backed up in the cloud and save them back in your phone or in cloud storage. It also includes filters but not heavy as Instagram. You can also create collages, album, animation, collage under assistant tab, you can create a story by selecting minimum 5 photos or videos. 

Under the assistant tab you can check the backup process status and it will show some cards which suggest options according to your storage space available in your device.

2. Periscope:

Periscope made it's android debut in May, Previously it was released for iOS back in march. It is the twitter's new live broadcasting app which allows you to stream the video being captured by your device and it can be also viewed by others. The streamed video will get removed from the server after 24 hours from the stream, this make the periscope to differ from the YouTube.

You can store the streamed videos in your phone memory. You will need a twitter account to use this app. You can film and make it stream live over the periscope app your live stream will be watched by audience all over the planet who uses periscope app. This helps brands to cover their fans with live streams!

The periscope app also have comment option which allows the audience to comment on your stream. When you start your stream from your device it can be watched by anyone and anyone can comment on it. It was more like live show, you are streaming the live events to the audience. You can broadcast to specific users using the lock icon before staring the stream.

After finishing the stream you can save your stream in your device and able to remove it. Periscope replaces the Meerkat app which give this stream option to twitter users. There is also a rumour going around the Meerkat app which is going to acquired by LG company. Meerkat app supports android platform only.

3. Speak Notes:

The name itself describes everything. Speak notes is a note taking app which allows you to take notes using voice and keyboard. There are lot of app which have the same functionality like speak notes but reason behind why i gave this app spot 3 is due to following features,

  • Easy to use interface
  • Lag free operation (even in phone with 512 mb)
  • Organizing the notes created with ease

You can create notes straight away from the home page of the page you will given two option to create new notes, using the microphone or using the keyboard. Previously created notes can also be accessed from the home page. You can also use lock screen widget in lock screen to create notes without unlocking the lock screen.

Speak notes app uses lesser permission, it requires Hardware controls to control the vibrations for alarm, System tools it is basic requirement to run the app, Network communications to view communication network.
