How to get android M app permission feature on any android phone

Android M has announced on google i/o 2015 and developer preview of the android m has been released for nexus devices. With many features like android pay, doze, chrome custom tabs etc., have packed up!

Google has included a feature named app permission in android m, app permission allows you to turn down the specific permission required by the app installed on your android device. This feature also have in-app permissions! which means you don't have to accept the permissions while you install an app from Play store. You can accept the permission when the app requires to access it.

Let me explain a little bit more with an example if you are running WhatsApp on android m and you click the mic button to send the voice message WhatsApp will ask you the permission to access the microphone. You can allow it or deny it according to the situation. Each and every permission will be in your control. This gives you full control over your phone.

You can also find which app using which permission under the settings -> app menu. In KitKat version of android, it is said to be there in hidden mode, there are some ways also available to get this feature on KitKat.

Now coming down to the topic, How to get app permission feature on your android device?

You can get this feature on you android device even it doesn't have android m or android KitKat or the android lollipop! There are a lot of tweaks available for android due to active members over the android community. Getting this feature on your android phone is easy it requires root access.

Follow the steps below to get app permission feature on your android phone,

  • Install Xposed Installer
  • Open Xposed Installer and click Framework and install the Xposed Framework on your phone.
  • Now reboot your phone
  • Install Donkey Guard
  • Open Xposed Installer and click on modules and enable the Donkey Guard module
  • Reboot your device
  • Now open the Donkey Guard app and wait until it loads all the installed apps
  • Now select the setting of app which you want to revoke its access
  • After selecting the app, you can see the list of permission used by the app, to block the particular permission of the app click the category and press the x symbol at the left side of the permission.
  • Now tap the save button at right top corner
  • You can block any permission of the app requires.



Note: Blocking internet permission for internet based app will result in error.

To give back, the permission for the app go back to the same setting and uncheck the x button and save the settings, relaunch the app.

You can also block the permission for the system apps but be careful it may result in the system error. Have a backup of ROM on your SD card always it will save you when you're in trouble.
